With Real Racer you can live stream your race footage directly to Twitch, Facebook Live, Youtube Live and many more – allowing viewers all over the world to tune in and view your race in real-time. Real Racer – the world’s first live streaming remote control car!
This is all made possible with the excellent OBS Studio live streaming application. We provide a plugin for OBS Studio that creates a “Real Racer” video source which you can add to your scene and then live stream (or record video) to any streaming platform or video output format supported by OBS Studio.
To get started, you’ll first need to install OBS Studio and install our Real Racer Plugin for OBS Studio:
Once you’ve got OBS Studio set up with the Real Racer plugin, you’ll then need to configure your Real Racer to connect to your home network, so that the device running OBS Studio will be able to connect to it and receive the real-time video stream. See the instructions here for how to set this up.
Once your Real Racer has been configured to connect to your home network, then you’re ready to go! Launch OBS Studio, compose your scene and then add the Real Racer source as shown below:
Once this is done, you’ll see the Real Racer video area with the Real Racer logo in the bottom left as follows:
The Real Racer source changes its background colour to show the current status:
- A grey background means that the plugin is scanning the network for a Real Racer.
- A blue background means that a Real Racer was found and the connection is being established.
- Once connected with the car, the real-time video stream from the car will be displayed.
If you can’t get the plugin to display anything other than the grey background, verify that your Real Racer is in fact connected to your home network, and that the device that you’re running OBS on is connected to the same network.
Please also note that if you have more than a single Real Racer, you can connect any number of cars to your home network and then add additional Real Racer sources to your scene. Each source will only connect to one specific car, so for example if you have 3 Real Racers, you can add the Real Racer source 3 times and each will show the real-time video feed from a separate car.
